Bucknell Men Compete at Inaugural Cornell Autumn Classic

The Bucknell Men were invited to Ithaca, NY this past weekend to compete in the Cornell Autumn Classic, held on the Canal leading into Lake Cayuga on Satuday, November 2nd.  This is the first time such a regatta has been held by Cornell University, with most athletes racing twice in events ranging from singles, to pair, fours and eights. The weather was ideal for racing with calm winds and overcast conditions with temperatures in the mid 50s.

The first flight of crews down the course featured the Mens 2-, with Bucknell fielding 4 entries finishing the 4500m course in 16:44, 16:46, 17:32 and 17:35, respectively. Followed by the Men’s 4+ which finished in 16:29 and the three freshman/novice 8’s who covered the canal in 15:26, 15:55 and 16:51, respectively.

After a short turnaround, the small boats gave way to the Varsity 8+’s and the 2nd flight of Freshman 8+’s. The Bison Varsity had a strong piece and completed the course in 14:16, good for 4th overall. While the three Freshman 8+’s finished their races in 16:10, 16:15 and 17:35.

The Bison men are now preparing for their final competition of the fall season held on November 9th, in New Brunswick, NJ on the Raritan River at the Rutgers Fall Classic.
