Bison Men Have Strong Showing at Head of the Charles

   The Bucknell Men competed this past weekend of October 19-20 at the Head of the Charles Regatta, the largest 2-day regatta in the world hosted in Boston, MA on the Charles River. 

   The first of the two Bucknell crews to race was the 2nd Varsity 8+, competing in the Club 8+ Event on saturday afternoon. With clear skies and a consistent head wind out of the west, the Bison 2V composed of  Soph. Cox Kate Rolfes, Soph. Stroke Ryan Thompson, Sr. Ethan Zubkoff, Soph. Nate Coffin, Fr. Lucas Colagrossi, Fr. Scott Serpico, Jr. Tyler Bogaczyk, Jr. Will Fierman and Soph. Bow Sam Wiley performed well throughout the 3 mile course to finish a respectible 19th out of 47 crews with a final time of 15:43.51.

   Sunday played host to even stronger headwind conditions as the Bison Varsity 8+ competed in the Collegiate 8+ event. Competiton was fierce from perennial rivals from Drexel, Grand Valley State, Hobart, Virginia, Michigan, Williams and Wesleyan as the Bucknell varsity composed of Sr. Cox Laura Even, Sr. Stroke Jackson McCarron, Jr. Alex Moore, Sr. Matt Sisto, Sr. Chris Seery, Sr. Connor Corwen, Soph. Dough Burney, Fr. West Shepherd and Jr. Bow Billy Tyler managed to finish 6th overall of the 40 crews enetered in the event, matching last year’s result with a final time of 15:43.98. 

  The Bison Men will enjoy next weekend off as they prepare to race crews from Hobart, Cornell and Syracuse on the Lake Cayuga Canal in Ithaca, NY on Saturday, November 2nd.
