Bison Compete at Rutgers Fall Classic

The Bucknell Men competed in their final regatta of the fall season on Saturday, November 9th at the Rutgers Fall Classic on the Raritan River in New Brunswick, NJ. The weather was cool and clear with temperatures in the high 40’s and a light head wind on the 4km course.

The first of the 2 events contended by the Bison men was the Men’s Varsity 4+, with three entries, the 4’s managed to take 2nd, 6th, and 14th overall, placing the combined time of the top 2 crews in 3rd place behind Georgetown and Navy Lightweights.

The second and final event of the day was that of the Men’s Freshman 8+’s, the Bison novices fought hard and had their best race of their young rowing careers, placing 14th, 16th and 20th overall, good for 7th in the combined ranking against the likes of eastern sprints programs from The Naval Academy, Penn, Georgetown, George Washington and Rutgers.

The Bison men will now focus on the development of what is sure to be a formidable spring racing squad, beginning with land training – followed by the annual spring training trip to Orlando, FL.
