Bucknell exchanges short pieces with Rutgers, Lehigh

With the fall season winding down, the Bucknell men sought an opportunity to throw down speed that would closely resemble its winter training just around the corner. So the team took a trip to New Jersey, where Rutgers agreed to run a competitive workout with the company of Lehigh. Aiming to make the visit worthwhile, the three teams conducted as many 3′ pieces as possible before the tides would change.

The morning alternated back and forth between the varsity eights and the freshman/novice boats. Within each category, Bucknell fielded even line-ups to add another layer of competitiveness. In the absence of a true “A” boat, each athlete felt as though any could piece could be theirs. This led to some tight, entertaining racing which saw a different Bucknell boat towards the front of each piece.

While it counts down the days until Orlando, the team will head indoors to measure its fitness on the erg. Bring it on!
