Bucknell Bison Sweep Competition at Hobart

The Bucknell Men traveled to Geneva, New York on Saturday, April 21st for their inaugural Duel with the Hobart College Statesmen on Seneca Lake.

The first event of the day was that of the Men’s Varsity 8+, in which the Bison Men took command in the first 300m of the race and didn’t look back, finishing with a time of 6:25.4 almost 9 seconds ahead of Hobart who recorded a finishing time of 6:34.33.

Next up was the Men’s 2nd Varsity 8+, which played out in a similar fashion to the Varsity 8+ race. The Bison Men showed dominant speed in the first 500m to reach an open water lead that they would never relinquish, finishing with a time of 6:37.14 – with Hobart trailing at 6:43.88

The final event of the day was the Men’s Varsity 4+, which due to deteriorating conditions on Lake Geneva was run on the 1500m course on the Cayuga River Canal. This race transpired much like the others, with Bucknell drawing out to an early lead and finishing ahead by a final margin of just under 3 seconds, covering the course in 5:25.59 with Hobart finishing with a 5:28.46.

The Bucknell Men will now prepare for the two most challenging Duels of the spring season, traveling to Massachusetts to compete against Williams College on Saturday, April 28th and College of the Holy Cross on Sunday, the 29th.
