Bucknell opens season at Clemson vs. Marist, Purdue and Rhode Island

The team opened up the 2012 campaign in strong fashion this past Saturday in Clemson, SC against Marist, Purdue and Rhode Island. The Varsity 8+ completed the 2000m course about 6 seconds ahead of Marist, and 8 seconds ahead of Purdue, with Rhode Island trailing. Bucknell got off to a bow deck lead off of the start and slowly pulled away throughout the race winning by open water.

Next down the course was the 2V, where Purdue’s depth was truly apparent. The finish order was Purdue A, Purdue B, Marist, Bucknell, and then Rhode Island. No official time was taken but Purdue A won by a healthy margin and Bucknell enjoyed a good battle with Marist throughout the race.

The class of 2016 made their debut with an open water victory over Purdue and Marist in the Freshmen 8+ category. Racing was tight throughout the first half of the course but Bucknell put on a strong push in the 3rd 500 and never looked back.

Thank you to Marist, Purdue and Rhode Island for hosting us and we look forward to racing you all again this season.

Bucknell Crew will hit the water again this weekend at the Murphy Cup in Camden, NJ.
