The Bucknell Men competed in their final regatta of the fall season on Saturday, November 8th at the 5th Annual Rutgers Fall Classic on the Raritan River in New Brunswick, NJ. The weather cooperated, especially for a race in November, with clear skies, light winds, and favorable racing conditions. The first of the two events that the Bison competed in was the Men’s Varsity 4+. With four entries the 4’s managed to take 1st, 2nd, 6th and 8th overall, placing the combined time of the top 2 crews in 1st place.
The second and final event of the day was the Men’s Freshman 8+’s. The Bucknell first year’s raced hard and had their best race of their short Bucknell Rowing careers, placing 8th and 10th, good for 4th overall in the combined ranking against the likes of eastern sprints programs from The Naval Academy heavyweights, Navy lightweights, Penn, Georgetown heavyweights and lightweights, Rutgers, and Lehigh. The team will now work on continuing to build momentum as we focus on making improvements daily. We know that our spring racing campaign will be formidable, and we know that the better we can make today – the better we start tomorrow. The team will be training back in Lewisburg on the water and on land for the next few weeks before the end of the semester, and then kicking off the spring semester campaign together with the annual January training trip to Orlando, FL.
