The Bucknell Men competed in their first of two championship regattas this past Friday, May 11th at the ECAC National Championship Regatta held on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
The competition was sure to be fierce, but the Bison Men performed well, placing every boat in the Grand Final of their respective events. The highlight of the day was during an action-packed Second Varsity 8+ race, in which the Bucknell 2V composed of 5 freshman, one junior and 2 seniors, led rival Trinity College for the first 1600m along with the University of New Hampshire, it came down to the sprint and the Bison Men took Silver after a very solid race. The Bucknell Varsity 8+ performed well in the morning semi-final, beating out Bates College for the win, earning a spot in the finals in the afternoon. In what has been the most tightly contested race this spring, the Bison Varsity finished 6th, maintaining less than a boat length deficit to the bronze-medal winning crew of Trinity College.
After a short break, the Bucknell Crews are heard at work preparing for the final regatta of the year, the ACRA Club National Championship Regatta held on May 26th and 27th in Gainesville, Ga.
