Bucknell Men Perform Well at Head of the Charles

The Bucknell Men traveled to Boston, MA this past weekend to compete at the largest fall rowing event in the world – The Head of the Charles Regatta. Spanning two full days of racing, the regatta hosted over 2,000 entries from all over the world.
The first Bucknell entry to compete on Saturday was the alumni 8+ composed of Cox Nicky Sirianni ’96, stroke Andy McLaughlin ’12, Veton Celaj ’12, Mike Katin ’11, Charlie Burckmeyer ’99, Tom Bernardi ’11, John Kauffman ’11, Nick Cindrich ’97 and Bow Michael Sena ’12 who went on to finish 25th out of 44 entries with a final time of 16:35.104.
Following shortly after the Alumni was the Bucknell 2V competing in the Men’s Club 8+ Event. A young boat composed of Cox Laura Even ’14, Stroke Billy Tyler ’15, Paul DeGregorio ’13, Matt Koenigsberg, ’16, Tyler Bogaczyk ’15, Cameron Edwards ’16, Crawford Morris ’15, Taylor Cotter ’15 and Bow Seat David Brundage ’13 negotiated the course without incident and finished with a time of 16:02.305 – placing them 15th overall in a field of 38 crews.
Sunday played host to cool and blustery conditions with a strong wind out of the west, setting the stage for what was sure to be in interesting Collegiate 8+ event for the Bison Varsity 8+. Starting as the last boat in the event at 37th, the Bucknell men wasted no time in passing crews from University of Connecticut, Colby College and University of New Hampshire to finish with a final time of 16:02.012 – placing them 6th overall with the best program result in 3 years.
The Bucknell men will now spend the next 2 weeks preparing for the Rutgers Fall Classic hosted by Rutgers University on the Raritan River in New Brunswick, NJ.
