Students, boats OK despite flooding

We're glad to report that, despite widespread flooding in the Susquehanna River Valley, all of our rowers are safe and there is no damage to boats or equipment. Many members of the varsity team were forced to evacuate their dorms and downtown housing on Thursday, but were allowed to return when the river crested earlier than usual at 26 feet instead of the forecast 30 feet.

Alumni weekend scheduled for October 1st-2nd

Alumni Weekend has been scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, October 1st. So save the date, and plan to arrive on campus to catch up with friends on Friday evening, then gear up for a full day on Saturday including an alumni row and afternoon BBQ, as well as a chance to speak with our new head coach Al Monte. More details will be announced soon.

Al Monte named 2011/2012 Head Coach

As many of you know, our coach of the last six years, Paul Bugenhagen, recently accepted another coaching position outside of Bucknell University. Paul had tremendous success both on the water and in connecting our alumni group to the team. Paul's vision and leadership, in partnership with the BCA Board, has shaped our recent successes and grown the program to where it is today. We thank Paul for his time and dedication to Bucknell Men's Crew and wish him our best in his new endeavors, although of course, we hope he never beats the Orange and the Blue!

History in the making for Bucknell Men’s Crew

If our sport were a little bit bigger, those athletes who make the US National Team would be on ESPN, as it is the highest level of rowing you can attain. Kyle Lafferty ’10 did something only four Bucknell Alumni have done in the past. He joins Nick Cindrich, Brett Wilkinson, Cynthia Ryder Matthes and Sarah Dan Besten Collins to become the fifth Bucknell Crew Alumnus to represent the United States at the World Championships.
