Bucknell Frosh Row to Strong Finish at Rutgers

The Bucknell Freshman Men competed at the Rutgers Fall Classic this past weekend on the Raritan River in New Brunswick, NJ. Hosted by Rutgers University, the freshman-only regatta is composed of 2 evenly matched boats from each team, with the combined time of the two crews serving as the final time for that given team. The Bison Freshman 8’s ran the 4k course with times of 13:06.8 and 13:11.8, placing them 5th and 7th in the 12 boat field and with a combined time of 26:18.6 – which placed them 3rd overall ahead of crews from Georgetown, Delaware and Rutgers.

Novice squad travels to Rutgers Fall Classic this weekend

The freshman squad will be traveling to Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ this weekend to participate in the Rutgers Fall Classic Regatta. The race is being held on the Raritan River on Saturday, November 5th. Look for our boats in the Heavyweight Novice 8 event at 12:15pm with the following bow numbers:

Heavyweight Race (Navy, Delaware, Georgetown, Rutgers, Penn and Bucknell)

Head of the Schuylkill Event Schedule

The team travels to Philadelphia, PA this weekend to compete at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday, October 29th. The event schedule is as follows:

The Men's Freshman 8’s will be racing at 10:00am in Event 5A – Men's College Frosh/Novice 8.

The Men's 2nd Varsity 8 will be racing at 11:20am in Event 7A - Men's Open Club 8.

The Men's 1st Varsity 8 will be racing at 2:20pm in Event 11A - Men's Open Heavy Championship 8.

Bison have strong showing at Head of the Charles

The Bucknell Men’s Rowing Team competed this past weekend at the Prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA. The Bucknell Men competed in the Club Men’s 8+ along with the Club Men’s 4+ on Saturday, finishing 13th and 31st, respectively. The Head of the Charles is the largest Head Race style regatta in the world, playing host to not only the most prominent North American Club and Collegiate programs, but also the most competitive teams from the likes of Great Britain, The Netherlands and Germany.

Bison Varsity 8 wins Head of the Genesee

The Bucknell Bison Men’s Crew took to the water for their first competition of the fall season this past weekend at the Head of the Genesee Regatta in Rochester, NY. The Bucknell Varsity 8+ placed 1st overall in the collegiate 8+ with a composite time of 29:18.63, placing them ahead of The University of Rochester and Hobart College in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. The Bison 2v, 3v, and 4v continued the strong team showing after placing 8th, 10th and 12th overall. The Bison crew’s next competition will be the presitgious Head of the Charles Regatta held in Boston, MA on October 22nd-23rd.

Scott Waters named new assistant coach

Scott Waters, a native of the Philadelphia suburb of Wyndmoor, Pa. joins the Bison staff after spending the previous two seasons coaching for LaSalle College High School. A LaSalle High School graduate in 2007, Scott was a three-year varsity letter winner in both football and rowing. Scott would go on to row for Temple University, where he competed for three years in the Varsity 8 that was frequently ranked among the top 20 crews in the country.
