Bucknell Men Open Season in Ithaca

The Bucknell Men kicked off the 2016 spring racing season this past weekend on the Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, NY. The 2016 Cayuga duels featured crews from Cornell, Hobart, Michigan, and Ithaca College. Race day conditions turned out well, with temperatures in the high 40’s and only light winds. The schedule for the day was that all crews would race twice, racing in the morning, then being paired against crews of comparable speed in the afternoon.

20th Annual Bucknell Erg Armageddon

Members of the Bucknell Men’s Crew and Women’s Rowing teams came together on Friday, February 19th to compete at the 20th annual Erg Armageddon in Davis Gym.  The competition is a 2000 meter indoor race, meant to simulate racing conditions that the athletes will experience come spring.   Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in a number of different events.  This year saw men competing in the Varsity Heavyweight, Freshman Heavyweight, and Varsity Lightweight categories.

Bucknell Rowers Set Indoor Rowing World Record

Concept II recently confirmed that a world record indoor rowing attempt by members of Bucknell’s Men’s Crew and Women’s Rowing teams is now official. A ten person team set a new continuous indoor rowing record, spending just over three days continuously rowing. The Bison smashed the previous Mixed 19 and Under Heavyweight Record (48 hours) with a new official time of 72 hours and 16 seconds.

Bucknell Men Fall Season Recap

This past weekend saw the conclusion of the 2015 Fall racing season for the Bucknell men.  The past several weeks have proven to be a very busy time of year, featuring a trip to the Head of the Charles, the 2nd Annual Class Day Race, and the year-end finish at the Rutgers Fall Classic. All three events proved to be very exciting, showing off improved team depth, and has the men gearing up for a very successful spring.


Bucknell Men Open Year Against Drexel and Lehigh

The Bucknell Men kicked off the 2015-2016 racing season at the Bucknell Fall Classic this past Sunday. Joining the Bison on the Susquehanna River in Shamokin Dam, PA, were Drexel and Lehigh University. Early weather forecasts of Hurricane Joaquin put the regatta in jeopardy, but Sunday morning saw a stiff, cold breeze with perfectly raceable conditions.  The Bucknell Fall Classic is special, in that it is the first collegiate racing experience for all of the Bison Freshmen.

Men's Crew Announces Largest Recruiting Class Ever

Bucknell men's crew head coach Dan Wolleben has announced the program’s latest recruiting class who will join the successful Bison team in the fall, bolstering an already strong roster. The 16-person group comes to Bucknell from seven different states.

Bucknell Men finish the season 6th overall at the ACRA National Championship

The Bucknell Men 2015 season concluded last weekend ACRA National Championship, at the 1996 Olympic Rowing Course on Lake Lanier, in Gainesville, Georgia.  The Bison had 5 crews entered for competition, the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Freshmen Eight, Varsity Double, and Varsity Single.

Bucknell Men come back from Dad Vail and ECAC Championships with 3 Medals

The Bucknell Men began 2015’s championship season last weekend at the Dad Vail and ECAC National Invitation Regattas.  Being one of the few teams to compete in both championships in the same weekend, the Bison knew they were in for a challenging weekend, but came away with some exciting results.

The Dad Vail Regatta came first, held on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA.   Despite some hot temperatures, conditions proved to be almost perfect for both days, with flat water and only moderate winds.

Bucknell Men Finish Regular Season against Holy Cross, Hobart, and Williams

The Bucknell Men finished their regular season competition last weekend against Holy Cross, Hobart, and Williams, on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, MA.  Conditions were chilly, with temperatures in the mid 40’s with moderate winds.  

Bucknell Men Perform Well With Four Grand Final Appearances at Kerr Cup

The Bucknell Men competed in the 4th regatta of the 2015 season this past Saturday, April 18th, at the Kerr Cup on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA.  Racing conditions proved to be almost ideal, with temperatures in the mid 70’s and moderate winds.
