Bucknell Men Kick off Season at Roundabout Regatta

Bucknell Men’s Crew started its season last Saturday at the inaugural Roundabout Regatta, a 6.5 kilometer race around Packer’s Island on the Susquehanna River. Athletes doubled up into several different events, racing the varsity pairs, varsity fours, varsity eights, freshmen eights, and freshmen fours. The Bison would post victories in the varsity pairs, freshmen eights, and freshmen fours.

Bucknell Crew Announces Year End Rower and Coach Awards

Each year Bucknell Men’s Crew recognizes certain individuals at the end of the year banquet in Georgia following the ACRA regatta. Here are the year end awards that were given out Memorial Day weekend this year.

Kicking things off were the 2016 National Invitational Rowing Championship Academic All-Americans. Recipients had to hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above through the fall semester. Receiving recognition were Ryan Thompson ’16, Nicole Finan ’17, James Koenigsberg ’18, Pat Long ’18, Christian Daugherty ’18, Perry Hamilton ’18, and Emilee Bae ’18.

Bucknell Men finish 7th overall at 2016 ACRA National Championship

The Bucknell Men traveled down to Gainesville, GA over Memorial Day weekend to compete at the 2016 ACRA National Championship on Lake Lanier. Competing was the largest squad in Bucknell history, with 3 eights and 2 fours making the trip south. While hot, conditions were otherwise close to perfect.

ACRA National Championships This Weekend

The Bucknell Men arrived in Gainesville, Georgia on Wednesday, and have been preparing for the ACRA National Championship Regatta at Lake Lanier since then. Lake Lanier was home to the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympic Games.

Bucknell Men place five crews in semi-finals at Dad Vail

The Bucknell Men continued the 2016 championship season last weekend at the Dad Vail Regatta. The Dad Vail, the largest collegiate regatta in the world, promised fierce competition for the Bison. Despite a threat of bad weather all weekend, conditions ultimately proved favorable. The Bison would race a varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity eight, freshmen eight, and varsity four.

Varsity Four Headlines National Invitational Rowing Championship

This past Sunday the Bucknell Men competed at the National Invitational Rowing Championship on Lake Quinsigamond, in Worcester, MA. In driving wind and scattered showers, the Bison’s performance was headlined by the Varsity Four, which walked away with silver medals. Bucknell also earned a 5th place finish in the freshmen eight, a 7th place finish in the second varsity eight, an 8th place finish in the third varsity eight, and a 9th place finish in the varsity eight.

Bucknell Men Win MARC Championship

The Bucknell men attended the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championship this past weekend. The MARC Championship was held on Lake Pinchot, in Lewisberry, PA. Conditions were near perfect, temperatures were in the lows 60’s with minimal winds and flat water.

Bucknell Recap vs Rutgers

The Bucknell Men traveled to New Brunswick, NJ this past weekend to compete against Rutgers University. Conditions were great for racing, a light breeze did not interfere with abundant sunshine and temperatures in the mid 60’s, as well as a slack tide on the Raritan River.

Bucknell Puts 5 Crews in Grand Finals at Knecht Cup - Freshman 8 Silver

The Bucknell Men competed in their third regatta of the 2016 season this past weekend, April 9th and 10th, at the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, NJ. Saturday conditions were less than ideal, with temperatures hovering above freezing, and driving rain. Eventually some of the racing on Saturday afternoon was postponed to Sunday. Despite cold temperatures, racing resumed the next day and the Bison enjoyed a great day of racing.

Bucknell Men Compete in Philadelphia

The Bucknell Men continued their 2016 campaign this past weekend on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA. Joining the Bison were St. Joseph’s University, Temple University, and La Salle University. After a week of high winds and unrowable conditions back home, race day turned out to be reasonably pleasant. Temperatures were in the high 40’s with light winds and a slight drizzle.
