Bucknell Crew Alumnus Lafferty attends US Senior National Team Lightweight Eight Camp (Dartmouth, NH)
Kyle Lafferty ’10 was invited to compete for a spot on the senior national lightweight eight at camp held out of Dartmouth’s boathouse in Hanover, New Hampshire. Kyle, who earlier this summer was in Oklahoma City for the senior national lightweight four camp, will be one of about twenty athletes who will be attempting to make the boat. Senior World Championships will be held in Bled, Slovenia in late August.
US Rowing Club National Championship (Indianapolis, IN July 13th-17th)
Andy Mclaughlin ’12 who rowed for New York Athletic Club earned a silver medal in the lightweight eight at US Rowing Club National Championships held in Indianapolis, Indiana. US Club National Championships is a five day regatta that brings together all of the clubs from the United States and several international crews. Andy also rowed his way to a fourth place finish in the intermediate lightweight pair and a third place in the senior lightweight pair.
Upcoming Senior Celaj attends Albanian Under 23 National Team Camp (Lyons, France)
Veton Celaj ’12 was invited to selection for the Albanian U23 national team camp which was held in Lyons, France this June. Earning a spot on the under 23 national team is prestigious because it means you are one of the best young athletes in your country. An upcoming senior, Veton was born in Kosovo but grew up in the United States. At camp he time trialed for the heavyweight quad, single and pair. While he came just shy of making the team, the greatest part of the experience for him was “Meeting many tremendously gifted athletes, learning from them, and competing at a high level.”
US Rowing National Championships (Princeton, NJ June 30th-July 1st)
Held at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, NJ the US Rowing National Championships is a prestigious regatta that brings together the best crews from the US as well as several international competitors. Racing in the Men’s 4- Kyle Lafferty ’10, who raced under US Training Center Oklahoma, became a National Champion by beating out the recently selected U23 Lightweight 4- as well as an Australian crew and Pennsylvania Athletic Club. Kyle also raced in the lightweight 2- where he earned bronze.
Andrew Neils competed in the lightweight double for Riverside Boat Club from Boston, MA where he earned a 7th place finish and he also came in 3rd in the lightweight 8+.
